Background

The Protea Hotel Select in Takoradi, a flagship establishment under Marriott International's Protea brand, was built to cater to the increasing demand for high-quality accommodation and conference facilities in Ghana's bustling oil region. As part of this ambitious project, Delbond Technologies was chosen after a rigorous bidding process conducted by consultants from WSP Global. Our role was to provide advanced Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems that would ensure operational efficiency and enhance guest experiences.

Challenges

  1. Integration of Advanced Training Systems: The complex required high-tech equipment, including flight simulators and interactive language laboratories, to meet international standards.

  2. Networking Needs: Establishing a reliable and comprehensive network infrastructure throughout the building to support various technological applications was crucial.

  3. Creating Engaging Learning Environments: GATA sought to foster collaboration and interaction among students through innovative teaching tools.

Solution

Delbond Technologies designed, supplied, installed, and commissioned a comprehensive range of systems tailored to meet the unique needs of the hotel. Our focus was not only on delivering top-tier technology but also on training the staff to maximize these systems effectively.

Key Implementation Steps:

  1. Networking Solutions: We installed robust fibre and copper networking infrastructures, including core and distribution switches, ensuring seamless connectivity throughout the hotel.

  2. Safety Systems: Our team implemented state-of-the-art fire and gas alarm systems alongside fire and evacuation systems, prioritizing guest and staff safety at all times.

  3. Wireless Connectivity: We deployed Ruckus Wireless Access Points integrated with a Wi-Fi manager to provide high-speed internet access across the facility, supporting both business and leisure activities.

  4. Public Address System: A multi-zone PA system with call stations was installed to facilitate effective communication throughout the premises, ensuring announcements are made clearly and efficiently.

  5. IP Television System: The hotel benefits from an advanced IP television system, providing 16 channels of DSTV and free-to-air programming for guest entertainment.

  6. Computing Infrastructure: We supplied HP desktop and server computers, equipping the hotel staff with the necessary tools for efficient operations.

  7. Telecommunication Solutions: A Panasonic IP PABX system was installed, providing telephony services to all rooms, alongside a reception station and ISDN lines from MTN for reliable communication.

  8. Power Solutions: To safeguard critical systems, we installed an APC 20KVA online UPS, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the server room and wiring rooms.

  9. Audio-Visual Systems: Conference room audio-visual systems were set up to enhance presentations and meetings, making the hotel a preferred venue for corporate events.

  10. Security Infrastructure: An IP CCTV camera system was deployed to enhance security, providing real-time monitoring of the premises.

  11. Access Control: We installed an automatic raise arm barrier at the main gate, ensuring controlled access to the hotel.

The successful implementation of these systems has not only fortified the Protea Hotel Select's infrastructure but also positioned it as a premier destination for travellers and business professionals in Takoradi. Guests now enjoy a seamless blend of comfort and technology, while staff can efficiently manage operations through reliable communication and advanced safety systems.
